In my work, I use dots much the same as one would use a bingo piece, as a place holder. A dot can stand in for a color, a compositional device, and an object to express relationships. It can describe depth and also be as flat as a tiddlywink. I like the simple geometry of the dot and its reference to so many familiar images, a button, a game piece, a hole.
